Incoming 6th Grade Students Information
6th Grade Elective Information:
There are five year-long electives available to sixth graders: Concert Band, Orchestra, Choir, C-STEM, and AVID. If a student chooses not to enroll in a year-long elective, they will be placed in the Elective Rotation. The Elective Rotation consists of semester-long classes taught by sixth-grade teachers who share their passion for a particular subject. In previous years, these classes have covered topics such as Sketching, Weather, and Current Events. Students will be randomly assigned to one elective per semester, with no specific order of enrollment.

6th Grade CSTEM Interest Survey
Advancement Via Individual Determination (AVID) is an academic elective, therefore students will see increased work and expectations in addition to their core classes. This class will model organization skills, with required binder and agenda checks. Students will learn a variety of note taking strategies and how to annotate those notes. They will collaborate with peers and college tutors, learn college terms and begin to identify their interests for their future. We do work hard but play harder! We will visit many college campuses, have family activities nights, college fair, Friday teamwork time all while making lifetime friends. Please apply on the Clement website, search AVID.
